Discovering Dreams
- This recent body of drawings are based on actual dreams I've had. I
keep my sketch book
- beside my bed and first thing in the morning try and sketch out an
impression of that nights
- most prominent dream. The process of remembering and visualising my
dreams has
- been an intriguing and insightful experience. Jorge Luis Borges wrote,"
Dreams are an
- ascetic work, perhaps the most ancient ascetic expression. They take
a strangely dramatic
- form, we are as Addison said, the theatre, the spectators, the actors,
the story."
- These mind plays, often quickly forgotten, contain important visual
information. We rarely
- interpret our dreams. It is an omission akin to leaving a letter containing
a vital message
- unopened on the breakfast table.
- Life in this very busy and chaotic world, is full of distractions.
There is little time or room for inner reflection. Dreams play an important
role in the psychological process and deserve more attention. The Aborigines
of Australia make it a practice to gather and discuss their dreams in the
morning as part of determining their plans for the day. The word to dream
in Hebrew directly translated means to make oneself whole.
- I hope that this new series of works may inspire others to take more
notice of their dreams.
- I think dreaming is an undervalued and powerful link to our subconscious
mind, and can play an important role in human growth and potential.

to reality."
